Spirit Week

Overall Spirit week was a very stressful week, although it all paid off in the end. It was a great learning experience and taught me so much. With my observations, I noticed somethings. & those things were the students attitudes toward spirt week, and of course (leadership) students attitudes. One thing I didn't appreciate was how certain students had nothing nice to say about the dress out days, and activities! They were saying rude comments such as "ew, why do we have to wear uniform? Spirit is so stupid. What's the point" or "polka dot is so lame, who wears that?" & much more. For the activities I heard comments like "this is lame." And "who created this? It's so hard,& confusing I don't get it." Also comments stating what we should* have done. Everyone was quick to judge, and make rude comments yet no one stated the good things about spirit week. They don't realize how much leadership does, and how much were involved. It made me a little annoyed because its bard and it hurts seeing people not appreciate what we do. But yenno what, that's typical students. They are gonna think its easy and they won't understand till they are put in our position. As far as dress out days,
Monday: I think "turn back the clock 1950" was a bit hard for students to dress out, it was nice to see some students try and dress out though! The effort was nice.
Tuesday: polka dot day was fun! & I enjoyed seeing everyone's cool polka dots. Although one team handed out polka dot cloths.. I kind of thought tht was cheating? But I guess not!
Wednesday: aloha attire was a success. Half of the school dressed out! Some students went all out, and this was probably my favorite day! It was a great pick (: we had some problems with leis, and "floral" print, but we solved the issue as soon as we received the issue!
Thursday: my second favorite day(: it was fun to see boys & girls be able to dress out. The effort each student put in was amazing! Military day was a success as well! Same as polka dot day though, a team was passing out camouflage cloths! I was like I guesssss... Lol.
Friday: we never had any problems with dress code! And lots of students dressed out. What team 7-3 did, was really creative and smart! Making team shirts! Haha.
If I could replace two dress out days I would replace Turn back the clock , & Polka dot day. Why? Because those days were the days we had the least amount of students dress out. I am assuming that it was a hard day to dress out for.
For the mini actives I would suggest; jump rope, musical chairs, pie eating contest, and a singing bee or spelling bee! As far as problems, I believe it was a stressful week. And it wasn't fair how some of us were being selfish and worked only when we felt like it and left others working and stressing. Also how on our own time some of us made time to come to school early while others came really late. I do know that I was one of the students that didn't come in after school on Thursday.. I learned a lot about responsibility and how important it is to be on time and attended work! Also, ways to solve problems. We ran into problems because some of us were confused and didn't understand what to do. We never asked questions when it was time, and assumed things, and mainly the lack of communication! To avoid problems we should ask questions before the actual event and communicate with everyone!! That's it for my spirt week blog! Overall Spirit week was a great learning experience, and all the stress and hard work paid off.
